Ceremony at monument
of Klein Amerika.
Teun van Grinsven en G. Thuring
designed the monument at Klein Amerika,
that was revealed at september 9, 1990.
It remembers the landing of 2291 men
at 17 and 18 september 1944
of the American 505th Para Infantry Regiment
of the 82nd Airborne Division,
under James Gavin
as part of Operation Market Garden
The area was called ‘dropzone N’.
The area was guarded by
Crerar's first Canadian Army
during the winter of '44/'45
Each year Parachute Group Holland
jumps to commemorate these men
who fought for peace and freedom
under difficult circumstances.
The ceremony was followed
by the presentation of special certificates.
